Child Care

The Naval Community Centre Association is an incorporated society whose objective is to run and administer Childhood Centres for the benefit of Naval Families.  There are two centres, Tamariki House for under 2 year olds and Calliope House for over 2 year olds.

Tamariki House

Children playing on a rocking toy outside Tamariki House. Tamariki House is located at 59 Calliope Road, Devonport, Ph. (09) 445 2484.  This Childhood Centre is available to 16 children aged from 6 months to two years old.

Meals are provided - morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack - during the opening hours from 7.30a.m. to 4.30p.m., Monday to Friday.

Care is available on a full time basis.  All staff are qualified in, or in training for, a Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood Education (ECE).

Calliope House

Children and child care worker gather around the table at Calliope HouseCalliope House is located at 65 Calliope Road, Devonport, Ph. (09) 445 2608.  This Childhood Centre is available to 50 children aged from 2 years to 5 years of age.

Meals are provided - morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack - during the opening hours from 7.00a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Care is available either on a full time, full day, or a morning or afternoon basis. A full educational program is conducted by staff who are qualified in, or training for, a Diploma of Teaching (ECE).
