The Linton military community is strong and close knit. With a large camp based population and other Service families living in nearby Palmerston North and elsewhere in the Manawatu, it is a vibrant community.
Linton has the reputation of being the operational hub of the New Zealand Army. A big focus for the community, therefore, is supporting its military members and supporting each other when Service members are away on duty.
The Linton Community Centre is designed to be a focal point for people, allowing the community the kind of interacive support essential in a predominantly military community.
